What's With Numbers?

asSalamualaikum.

again, another English post. It's just that I went through a breeze of English Day, where I had reading a lot of english-based web logs and newspapers, apart from my studies, of course.

It just came to my attention that this 'thing' needs a real attention.

18/9% or 45%

First of all, what's in it? It's about the total of bumiputra-owned companies. The ASLI reported that the percentage is about 45% of total companies in Malaysia, while the EPU insisted that it is only 18.9%. Why so much difference?

There had been rumours, a lot of them. But then again, one of the most popular 'myth' is because of the difference in terms of calculation, whereby quite a number of bloggers said that ASLI also take into consideration the GLC in calculating the percentage.

Well, enough for that. I leave that case opened, for another day, because from what I've heard in TheStar Malaysia Online, DPM Dato' Seri Najib is going to make the calculation public very soon. Hopefully, those calculations are not 'fresh baked cookies', if you understand what I mean.

What bothers me a lot is perhaps, the Premier's leadership.

Honestly, in this few months that had just passed by, Malaysia had seen the image of the Premier tarnished, so badly that I don't think there's any chance of him reborn again, like a phoenix.

From the issue of IFC, and then Oil-For-Food,and then Tun Dr. Mahathir's critiques, followed by this new issue, the Premier seems to be in a very weak state. It's always his underlings that do the talking, unlike our ex-Premier Tun Dr. Mahathir. During his regime, the times were very, very different. It was like no one dared to speak to the ex-Premier, to advice him. Also, his think tank, and himself too as a think tanker, was a success, in term of logics. However, the tides certainly had changed now.

The Premier is always backed up by his underlings, until he came into a state, whereby he is like a 'speechless guy', who can't ever be trusted. Who raised the IFC issue ? Wasn't it his own underlings? Who raised the issue of the ASLI's assessment? Wasn't it his own underling? Honestly, from the point of a leader, he is certainly losing his grip there.

p/s : Maybe this all is just another type of conspirasy, for Tun Dr. Mahathir to gain back his popularity, after his popularity was smeared, smashed, burned by the Black 14, Reformasi, Anwar era. Hehehe.. if that is so, then you know who to vote for the next General Election.
